On November 14, 2010, the movie website launched a teaser trailer stating that the movie's title would be Fullmetal Alchemist: Milos no Seinaru Hoshi and that it would be released in the summer of 2011. FUNimation released the Japanese version of Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos in theaters in early 2012 and on DVD and Blu-ray in the spring.Īt the end of the last episode of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, an announcement was made declaring that a Brotherhood movie had been green-lit and would be coming to Japanese theaters at some point in the near future. The movie was followed by a Q and A with the film's director Murata Kasuya. It premiered in Japan on July 2nd, 2011 and a subtitled version made its American premiere at Otakon in Baltimore. It is the second film based on the popular Fullmetal Alchemist franchise, the first being Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa. It's definitely more action-y than the first anime, if that helps.Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos (鋼の錬金術師 嘆きの丘 ( ミロス )の聖なる星, Hagane no Renkinjutsushi: Mirosu no Sei-naru Hoshi) is an animated movie based on the storyline of the manga and the second anime. I've watched Brotherhood for as far as the Dub has progressed and am enjoying it immensely more. #Fullmetal alchemist english dub series#the first anime - well, I watched the first series and actually found it kind of meh, it was clear they were dragging the manga storyline out as much as they could during the first half (for comparison, when the two are still following the same storyline Brotherhood feels about twice as fast as the first anime) and the story from after it divorced the manga didn't really catch my interest. Personally, I'd say dub all the way, the voice acting is excellent and fits the characters really well - much better than the Japanese voices, and it also fits the setting better (it's in a pseudo-Anglogerman Empire, so the names of people like Edward/Ed, Roy, Alphonse/Al, Armstrong or Hughes sound much more fitting when spoken by the English-dub voice actors than the Japanized "Aru" and "Edu".Īs for the Brotherhood vs. Wait, so which one do most fans enjoy more? And are the first episodes of both identical to each other? The very first episode is different as Brotherhood had a special (and really REALLY awesome) introductory episode that wasn't taken from the manga or anything shown in the first anime. On the other hand, the first anime has the advantage of having a complete dubbed version, but Brotherhood does not, so once you're past a certain point you'll have to either swap over to subtitles anyways or else wait for each new dubbed episode to come out. #Fullmetal alchemist english dub tv#Honestly, when I watch things like the Miyazaki films I tend to prefer subtitles, but when it comes to something the length of a TV show I'd much prefer to be listening in my native language. The English cast is excellent, and not having to pay attention to the subtitles also means you can watch the action more carefully, which is good because the artwork is amazing. Overall, I'd definitely say I enjoyed the dubbed episodes more, and considering how much I liked the story all the way through I think that has more to do with the voice-acting than anything else. I watched that series first, and since the dub isn't complete for it I had to switch over from dubbed episodes to subbed episodes about half-way through. I can't give a real opinion on the first anime, seeing as how I'm only half-way through it myself and have only watched the episodes dubbed (though I will say the dub cast is quite good), but I'd recommend watching Brotherhood dubbed. I actually just started up FMA myself, off of the recommendation of my brother (neither of us are generally big anime fans, but I trust his advice on shows), so this is actually a question I had to ask myself recently.
